Thanks Jennifer for your comment! True, too clean is also not ideal or practical as our kids will get dirty when they grow up, especially for boys in Singapore who have to attend compulsory national service/army.

For me, it’s the opposite for everything except the dust mites. I believe in the hygiene hypothesis as one of the triggering factors for the increase in allergies, asthma, and eczema today. Our society is too clean and it’s leaving our bodies defenseless against germs when they come in contact with them. So, I encourage my children to use library books as is and don’t shy away from door knobs at all.
We certainly wash hands before meals, but only with a natural soap and never one with antibacterial properties.
Dust mites are another thing however as they can certainly trigger asthma, allergies, or eczema directly. We do try to limit dust mite exposure whenever possible.
