Marcie Mom: Thanks Prof Hugo, for being with us for two months. The last questions for you –
I’ve written in this post some of the food to avoid in pregnancy diet such as vegetable oil, citrus fruits, peanuts, alcohol and smoking. Some foods that can help with eczema include fish or fish oil and oral pro-biotic supplement. Is there any updated research in this area?
Prof Hugo: No – diets during pregnancy have no effect!
Marcie Mom: So, I guess the best diet is still a well-balanced diet. Separately, I give my baby room temperature milk and cold juice/water. This is contentious (particular in Singapore/Asia) and has drawn flak from everyone around me. Eczema children whose trigger is heat seem to like cold water. Why do you think eczema children like their drinks cold?
Prof Hugo: It can be that this preference has nothing to do with eczema.
